YouTube is one of the best video streaming application, that is used by millions every single day. Yes, YouTube growth is at Peak in this year, as many new smartphone users are attracted to it. Because YouTube is completely free and it is one the pre-installed video streaming app in all Android Smartphones.
Let’s talk some history of the YouTube, which you use every single to day to get away from boredom or to beat your loneliness. YouTube is an American video-sharing website or Video streaming website created by three former employees of Paypal in 2005. By seeing the growth and popularity Google bought YouTube in November 2006 and since then YouTube is under the hood of Google.
The Videos you see on the youtube are created by many individuals or channel are created YouTube content creators.YouTube earns advertising revenue from Google AdSense, a program which targets ads according to site content and audience. The vast majority of its videos are free to view, but there are exceptions, including subscription-based premium channels, film rentals, as well as YouTube Premium. YouTube Premium is a subscription service offering ad-free access to the website and access to exclusive content made in partnership with existing users.
For those who love statistical data, As of February 2017, there were more than 400 hours of content uploaded to YouTube each minute, and one billion hours of content being watched on YouTube every day.
Now that you know something about YouTube, let us talk about the latest update from YouTube. YouTube has made some changes in UI level and in Video watching aspect as well. If you remember one of the topic discussed in Google I/O 2018 was Android Digital Wellbeing basically called as Digital Wellbeing. If you have not seen that part, check the video below.
One similar kind of digital wellbeing update came to YouTube. Yes, this was also discussed in same Google I/O. Youtube says We introduced new tools that help people better understand their tech usage, focus on what matters most and disconnect when needed. You can find all of the YouTube tools in one place, alongside your personal time watched profile. Yes, now you can know how many minutes or hours you spent on YouTube.
To give you a better understanding of how much you watch, YouTube has built a profile that’s available in your account menu rolling as you can see in below image. This profile tells you how long you’ve watched YouTube videos today, yesterday and over the past 7 days.
Once you know how much time you’re spending in the app, you may want to set a limit. It’s easy to lose track of time when you’re watching videos on YouTube, which is why YouTube now help you set up a reminder to take a break. You can set the time limit in the Time Watched settings in your profile. Once you’ve hit that limit, a friendly reminder will pop up on your screen. The remainder will be similar to see in below image.
Now you can control notification even better on YouTube. you can bundle all of your YouTube push notifications into a single notification each day and set a specific time to receive your digest. Just go to your settings to choose when you’d like to receive your digest, and from then on you’ll only receive one notification per day.
Many of us now have the habit to look into our smartphone immediately, when it buzzes for any notification or even worse some of them can’t resist when it buzzes. This has affected many peoples sleep time. This new feature called Disable notification sounds and vibrations lets you change that all notifications are sent without sound and vibration between 10pm and 8am. You can access that settings in Notification tab in your profile.
YouTube has delighted many of us with new Dark Theme in apps. Thanks to YouTube for bringing this UI change, We personally love the new dark theme. If you want to know more about Digital Wellbeing board developed by Google check this link Android Digital Wellbeing.
